Sustainable St Margaret's

becoming a low carbon community

About

This is the homepage for Sustainable St Margaret’s – a village community website providing the latest information on the the actions being undertaken by a range of local community groups within the village of St.Margaret’s at Cliffe on the East Kent coastline. These integrated actions are together aimed towards ensuring a fully prospering and economically, environmentally and socially sustainable village in the 21st century, building upon the village community’s attributes – ain particular its characteristic strong sense of local identity and self reliance.

We are currently working on a series of sustainable development initiatives including a low and zero carbon energy plan for community buildings such as the local school and village hall as well as supporting the development of a community farm to provide good quality organic local food for the immediate community.

The core focus of activity for 2010 is the development, through the village Energy Group, of a ‘Community Energy Centre‘ which provides the cornerstone to our strategy to be a fully zero carbon community by the end of 2012.
